Celine Saulnier, PhD

Department of Pediatrics
Marcus Autism Center

Research Description

Dr. Saulnier’s research focuses on understanding profiles of adaptive behavior in autism spectrum disorders. Her research has shown that even the most cognitively able individuals with ASD fail to generalize their repertoire of skills to everyday contexts. This inability to translate capability into adaptive behavior results in the majority of individuals with ASD struggling to function independently and, thus successfully as adults. Using the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales, the most widely used measure of adaptive behavior in the world, Dr. Saulnier investigates the patterns of functional skill development in ASD in relation to cognition, autism symptomatology, and age.
